You may be deterred from trying acupuncture based solely on the fact that you are scared it will hurt.
Naturally, you would associate needle pain with past experiences such as giving blood, getting a tattoo, or receiving a shot. In reality, acupuncture needles are tiny, thin, and flexible. You can fit ten acupuncture needles inside the tip of one hypodermic needle.
As the needles are inserted, you may feel mild tingling and a sense of relaxation. These are normal sensations and a sign that your acupuncture treatment is working. We leave the needles in for at least twenty minutes because this is how long it takes for your Qi to circulate throughout your body. As the needles are removed, you may feel a mild tingling once more.
When you come in for an appointment at Bridges, we will walk you through the whole experience so you can relax and enjoy your treatment.
