In Traditional Chinese Medicine, our digestion begins with the Earth element.
The element is in charge of your appetite (desire or lack of desire for food) and for the process of creating saliva, enzymes, and stomach acid to send food to the small intestine.
When you hungry for something – whether it’s physical, emotional, or mental – your stomach and spleen work together to help get nourishment into your body & process these experiences in a way that is healthy for us to digest.
Mistaking the need for emotional nourishment with physical hunger is a sign that your Earth element is out of balance.
We are going to be doing a small series on digestion, your spleen, and the Earth element over the next few weeks – make sure to follow along for tips & education on how to bring balance back into your life!
